Brokaw Salutes Dole Institute on NBC's TODAY-
“I was just at the Bob Dole Institute at the University of Kansas, and I recommend to everybody watching this broadcast that if you get anywhere near Lawrence, Kansas, go to the Bob Dole Institute. And you'll see some bright young people who are entering public life or are interested in the issues of the day. And you'll see a remarkable small museum about Bob's astonishing life. It is a great tribute to a great American." ....Tom Brokaw, during June 15 interview on NBC's Sunday TODAY.
Statement by Senators Bob and Elizabeth Dole on the death of Tim Russert (1950-2008)-
"It is a shock. He was a great and longtime friend. No one was more fair and more objective than Tim Russert. Certainly our hearts go out to his family; his son, Luke; his wife, Maureen; and beloved father, Big Russ. He was today's giant in the world of television news. A great loss to his loyal viewers, to NBC, but above all to journalism across the board." Read Archive Page

Tony Snow, the Cheerful Messenger, dies of cancer. Statement by Sen. Bob Dole on the death of Tony Snow: "In my view Tony Snow was a cheerful messenger. Whether people agreed with Tony or not he would always bring a smile to even his toughest questioners. More importantly, he was an inspiration to cancer survivors and all those still battling this dreadful disease. He never stopped fighting. He never gave up hope. Republicans and Democrats alike will miss this shining light. Our condolences to his family and his legion of friends and coworkers.”
