In Spring 2008, the Dole Institute of Politics again awarded one hundred and twenty-eight (128) $1000 scholarships to exemplary Kansas high school graduates. The scholarships are renewable for three years and may be used at KU, Emporia State University, Fort Hays State University, Kansas State University, Pittsburg State University, Wichita State University or Washburn University.

About the Scholarship Program
The Senator Robert J. Dole Public Service Scholarship Program recognizes Kansas high school students who have demonstrated leadership and community involvement. Drawing upon the spirit and experience of Senator Bob Dole's career, the Dole Institute emphasizes public service by helping students to understand the challenges and rewards of public life.
The $1000 Dole scholarships are renewable for three years, on the basis of satisfactory academic performance and completion of of 100 hours of community service annually. and may be used at KU, Emporia State University, Fort Hays State University, Kansas State University, Pittsburg State University, Wichita State University or Washburn University. The scholarships are distributed among the state's four congressional districts to ensure the broadest statewide participation.
The Dole scholarship program began in 2005 with a federal grant that funded 40 scholarships per year. In 2007, the Dole Institute received a second federal grant and awarded 128 scholarships, nearly three times the number of scholarships as in each of the previous two years.
